Learn About Denver’s Expanded Waste Services Proposal

The City and County of Denver is exploring an expansion to residential waste services that would provide weekly recycling and composting for all customers. To cover the costs of these services, including labor and regular equipment replacement, Denver is proposing a fee based on the trash cart size that residents would select. Please visit the City’s Expanded Waste Proposal page which includes a FAQ section which may answer some questions posed by residents when considering this proposal.

Our Association is a member of INC, the umbrella organization for Denver’s Registered Neighborhood Organizations. This month INC hosted a meeting on the issue of Sustainability and Climate Change which include a presentation on this Expanded Waste Services Proposal. Civic Center Next 100 Concept Plan is Complete & 16th Street Mall Construction Begins

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Civic Center Next 100 public engagement process during the past year. The input summaries, virtual meeting recordings (English and Spanish), and meeting presentations are available on the Civic Center Next 100 project page.

CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE: Work on the Greek Theater and the Central Promenade will begin in 2024 and work on Bannock Street, including the Central Gathering Feature, will move forward as funding becomes available.

In other construction updates in the downtown area, the 16th Street Mall Project will begin construction this spring.

Irish Denver Walking Tour

History Colorado offers several terrific walking tours this year on a wide variety of topics. In time for St. Patrick’s Day, they present an Irish Walking Tour with Professor James Walsh, who will cover the story of Denver’s early Irish community and shed new light on conflicts and stories of survival that defined Denver’s working class for generations.
