Denver voters approved Proposition 2A on the November ballot. Starting this year, this new sales tax will generate $40 million annually for the citywide Climate Protection Fund. Actions to come to reduce transportation emissions and increase mobility are eagerly awaited. The Mayor’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resiliency is taking its cues from the public and the Sustainability Advisory Council on changes to come and how to use the new funds.
The Denver Sustainability Advisory Council will:
- Provide advice and recommendations to City staff for meeting the city’s ambitious climate goals and effectively implementing the Climate Protection Fund’s five-year strategic plan.
- Assist staff in connecting with the people, communities, businesses, and institutions they serve.
- Promote the principles of sustainability broadly among the community and stakeholders.
The Sustainability Advisory Council has openings for new members, and the application closes January 15. If you or someone you know has a background and passion for climate action, sign up or spread the word.
