7th Congressional District
George Athanasopoulos, Republican, 40.87 percent; Ed Perlmutter, Democrat, 55.17 percent; Martin Buchanan, Independent, 3.96 percent. (Jefferson County-only results)
Perlmutter was first elected in 2006, and served in the state senate from 1995 to 2003. Athanasopoulos served in the Army through four tours in in Iraq.
The district includes Golden, Wheat Ridge, Arvada, south Westminster, Northglenn, Thornton, Welby and Commerce City.

This race is a repeat of 2014, when Woods defeated the appointed incumbent Zenzinger by 663 votes.It has been touted by pundits to be one of the most fiercely contested races of the year, based on the evenly balanced number of registered voters in the district, and the fact that the outcome could well determine which major political party controls the state senate.

Pettersen, the incumbent, was elected to the seat twice before. She currently chairs the House Education Committee and sits on the Public Health & Human Services and Appropriations Committees. Pallozzi had a 4-H club for many years, assist with her son's Boy Scout troop, and sponsors college students in internships with textile design.

Menten, the incumbent, made a name for herself early on in her four-year term for keeping RTD staff on their toes about being fiscally responsible. Ruchman previously served two terms as the District M director.
District M includes most of Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, Golden, Edgewater, Mountain View and some of south Arvada.
