Resolution approvingdonations for charities
City council approved a long-discussed resolution to approve donation of $100,000 in city funds to support area charities, including. The Boys and Girls Club, CASA, Family Tree, The Action Center and Second Wind were just some of the organizations that received funding. Councilmembers including Ward 1's Ramey Johnson and Ward 4's David Wiechman said their opposition to the resolution is not in any way a reflection of the work of the organizations. It's about holding firm on a philosophical principal that governments shouldn't be using city money like this.

"All residents can take comfort in knowing this was an open and transparent process, and we're funding the needs of Lakewood residents."
