Applewood woman dies in car crash - #lakewoodnews

A Golden woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal, multi-vehicle crash on I-70 on June 7.

Autopsy results determined that Nancy Gail Courtright, 55, of the Applewood area died of multiple blunt force injuries.

The crash occurred at about 4:15 p.m. at mile marker 261 on westbound I-70, west of Highway 6. Westbound I-70 reopened at about 9:30 p.m.

Four vehicles were involved -- one semi-truck and three passenger vehicles. Courtright was pronounced dead on the scene and one person was transported to an area hospital, non-emergent.

The driver of the semi-truck, a 41-year-old Samoan male from California with a valid commercial license, was transported to the Golden Police Department and voluntarily consented to a blood test. He was released pending the outcome of the investigation.

As of Thursday, June 9, no charges have been filed.

The cause of the accident, and the involvement of the drivers of the cars and the semi-truck, has not been determined. The investigation is active and on-going.

Golden Police Department's Accident Investigation Team conducted the on-scene investigation, and Colorado State Patrol's Motor Carrier Unit will assist with the mechanical inspection of the semi-truck.
